On the Mend

Niyo after surgery

My dog Niyo had emergency surgery last Saturday for a twisted stomach (GDV). The surgery went really well and he is recovering pretty miraculously. The morning after the surgery the doctor said he was already walking and eating which is very unusual with this kind of intensive surgery (long incision up the middle of his belly). He said “He has a lot of kick for a 12 year old dog”.

He came home on Monday and he has been recovering really well. I had to take him back to the hospital at 3 a.m. Tuesday night because he was panting and restless–they said he needed some more pain medication. I think the trauma of the surgery was hitting a bit and was coming out with his anxiety. He is such a sensitive little guy:)

He has been doing much better the rest of the week and through the weekend. Lots of hugs and Reiki from me. I slept on the living room floor with him Tuesday night. It reminded me of when I got him as a puppy I couldn’t stand having him in a crate and crying so I slept with him on the kitchen floor. Thank you all for your love and prayers, it means the world to me!! Niyo and I are sending you all LOTS OF LOVE.
