6 Ways to Use Articles to Build Your Practice

Picking a Therapist, healer or coach is a really big process for people. It is a vulnerable time and they want to find someone they can trust and who they can be confident can help them with their situation. One of the best ways to help potential clients get to know you is through articles.  When potential clients read your articles they are able to connect with you energetically to see if they trust and resonate with you.   Plus, they can get an experience of your knowledge—giving them confidence you can help them.  All of this brings them one step closer to calling you to schedule an appointment.

Here are some different ways you can use your articles to build your practice:

hand-pencil
1.  Find a local publication that takes articles and submit an article every issue. If you need to advertise to be able to submit an article—do it.  It is worth it for the exposure that will pay off multiple times more than the expense.

2. Post your articles on your web-site, blog or at ezinearticles.com.
Oftentimes the key words you use in your articles (ie. Relationship struggles) will help link potential clients with that issue directly to your web-site.  (Remember 70% of people looking for Therapists, Healers and Coaches are looking on-line to find them)

3. Use articles as support for clients in between sessions.
The content of the articles will support and amplify the changes they are making through working with you.  This will lead to more success for them–which will lead to them referring their friends and colleagues to see you.

4. If you are speaking at an event bring copies of your articles to pass out.
You will share valuable information that will make a difference for them and also that they can pass along to others.  Again this can help to build a connection with them as potential clients.

5. Having articles published creates great visibility for you and positions you as an expert. The more visible and public you are the more you are viewed as an expert and people will want to connect with you for services.  I have been writing articles in a local paper for the last 10 years and people come up to me when I’m at the grocery store and comment about how much my articles have made a difference in their lives!

6. You have valuable information to share no matter what stage you are in for the development of your Practice. I work with Therapists, Healers and Coaches in all stages of their practice development and it can be very common for them to diminish how much they have to offer their potential clients right now.  Don’t hold back and begin to share your knowledge and wisdom through your articles today.

Homework:
1.   Find one place you can post an article regularly.

2.  Block out time in your schedule each week to write an article.

3.  Use the affirmation:  “As I write my articles I connect energetically with all of the amazing people who will be my clients.”

    Hi Shelley.
Thank you for this timely article. I have been trying to get into a habit of writing regularly to get my newsletter up and running. I have so many ideas on health and healing I want to share, but have so far struggled to get into a routine. I appreciate your tips and encouragement. I will implement your homework and feel I will soon be off to a flying start. Thank you so much, Fiona 🙂

Thanks Shelley for the tip. I have thought of this many times. I get stuck with topics. Even if I have a topic, it takes me SO LONG to write. Maybe I could just use the blogs I have and tweek them to form topics suitable for a paper/mag. Hmmm
