6 Ways to do a Spiritual Spring Cleaning

It is Spring and a perfect time to release and clear out to make room for positive new growth in our life. We all know about Spring Cleaning our homes and in this issue’s article I go over specific tips to help you do some Spiritual Spring Cleaning. Our Spirit can get weighed down by many things in our life and so regularly doing a Spiritual Cleaning and Clearing is essential to living a lighter more joyful life.  Here are my favorite tips to do this.

1. What brings your Spirit down? Is it a situation, a person and activity you do that you don’t like to do? Make a list of these things and see if every day you can find a creative way to release one thing from your list. Example: My messy closet is weighing on my Spirit. Creative Solution: Schedule a day/time to invite your best friend over to clean out the closet and do it in a goofy, fun way—Singing Opera while doing it for example. Limit your time the task to 1 hour and then go do something REALLY fun.

2. What books on your shelf represent old ways of thinking or have ideas that you have already integrated into your life? Release these books to make more space for your Spirit. Tip to REALLY free yourself up: Set a goal to only keep 30 of your books (or whatever number you choose) and donate the rest to the library. You might be thinking “Yikes” at the thought of doing this—Breathe:)

3. Make a list of all the activities and people in your Life.Bunch of spring flowers in the meadow Have someone read this list back to you and notice what happens to the energy of your body when you hear the activity or person’s name. This can give you some direct feedback on what might need to be released in your life to free your Spirit.

4. What habits do you have with the way you treat your body that need to be released? Our Spirits are housed in our bodies and if we don’t treat our body well we can have a difficult time connecting spiritually. Do you need to exercise more? Do you need to stop eating sugar? Do you need to address a health issue that has been pulling your energy down?

5. What belief patterns do you need to release to have a lighter Spirit? If your Spirit feels weighted down, chances are you have limiting belief patterns that need to be released. Begin to pay attention closely to what you are saying to yourself throughout the day to become aware of these heavy thought patterns. Very often what is REALLY true is the exact opposite of your limiting belief. So just turn the thought around completely and you will begin to lighten your Spirit.

6. Are you in alignment with what you truly believe? Are your actions reflecting your true beliefs? If you believe that “Anything is possible” are you taking actions that reflect this belief? The more congruent your actions are with your true Spiritual beliefs the lighter and more in the flow you will be in your life. Affirm: I live in congruence with my highest Spiritual Beliefs.

I would love to hear what you are going to do for your Spiritual Spring Cleaning, please share below.

I have begun an exercise program that I AM sticking with. I know I will love the way my body will look, but I’m doing it more for health reasons. I am trying to stave off di-ease that is effecting family members: heart disease, diabetes, elevated blood pressure…

By taking care of my health, my Spirit is lighter so I can tackle the responsibilities in my life. My kids, my budding business, and my relationship of over a year with a great man.

And I thank you for your information. Very inspiring!

Great post Shelley. I scheduled a day to organize and get rid of STUFF that I no longer use; clothes, gadgets, books. Then I need to take a day to organize old paperwork and reorganize my office and make way for my new office; fresh start 🙂

We’re going into Winter in Australia but always at change of season I get the call to clean out and de-clutter. Right now, my clothes storage drawers in my bedroom and my office. And I notice, at the moment I am working all over the house anywhere but my office. However, I am withstanding the pull currently as I feel it serves the purpose of self-sabotage as I have to stay on course with some business expansion at the moment.
Good luck to all those spring cleaning. I have a very useful info-graphic for De-cluttering. Just email if a copy is desired, nikki@audaciousyou.com
